Israeli soldier Matan Engersht, who was recently freed in a prisoner exchange, made a shocking revelation after his release.
He said that during his captivity, the Palestinian resistance fighters treated him humanely and even took care of his religious needs.
Engersht admitted that he had asked his captors for tefillin, a prayer book, and a Torah — and, surprisingly, they provided him with all of these, taken from areas where the Israeli army had once been stationed in Gaza.
He was able to perform his daily prayers three times a day in the underground tunnels. He also said that several times, Israeli airstrikes came very close to killing him, but the resistance fighters did everything they could to keep him safe.
Engersht’s testimony exposes the hypocrisy of the official Israeli narrative. In contrast, Palestinian prisoners recently released by Israel have told stories of torture, hunger, and inhumane treatment.
Thus, a few words from a Jewish captive’s mouth have shown the world that humanity still lives in the tunnels of Gaza — while those who claim to be “civilized” have become the greatest violators of humanity.
