Taliban Delegation Heads to Doha for Talks with Pakistan Amid Border Tensions

Kabul: A high-level delegation of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, led by Defense Minister Mullah Mohammad Yaqoob Mujahid, has left for Doha today to hold talks with the Pakistani side. The meeting aims to discuss recent tensions and border security issues between the two neighboring countries.

However, the talks come at a sensitive time. Last night, Pakistani forces reportedly carried out airstrikes in Paktika province, targeting civilian areas. According to local sources, several civilians were killed and injured in the attack.

In an official statement, the Islamic Emirate strongly condemned the strikes, calling them a serious violation of Afghan sovereignty and an act of provocation.

“The repeated attacks by Pakistani forces are efforts to prolong the conflict,” said Zabihullah Mujahid, the official spokesman of the Islamic Emirate. “Afghanistan reserves the right to defend itself, but our Mujahideen have been instructed to avoid any new operations for now, in respect of the ongoing negotiations.”

The statement further emphasized that Afghanistan remains committed to peace and regional stability, while the current situation, according to the Emirate, is a result of Pakistan’s border violations.
