Ceasefire Announced Between Pakistan and Afghanistan — Taliban Orders Its Forces to Respect the Truce

Kabul / Islamabad (Special Correspondent):

After requests and continued diplomatic efforts from the Pakistani side, both Pakistan and Afghanistan have agreed to a ceasefire, which will take effect today at 5:30 PM.

In an official statement, the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan said that the decision was made in response to Pakistan’s request and in the interest of peace and stability in the region.

The statement read:

“The Islamic Emirate instructs all its forces to fully respect the ceasefire after 5:30 PM, as long as there is no aggression from the other side.”

According to reports, in recent days there have been several incidents of cross-border firing and clashes along the frontier areas — especially around Chaman, Spin Boldak, and Kunar — resulting in casualties and disruption of trade and travel.

In light of these tensions, Pakistan contacted Afghan authorities at a senior level, leading to this temporary truce.

A spokesperson for the Islamic Emirate added that Afghanistan desires peace and stability and prefers to avoid any kind of conflict. However, if there is any aggression from the other side, Afghan forces have the right to defend themselves.

An official from Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry informally confirmed that Islamabad had reached out to Kabul for an immediate ceasefire to prevent further escalation. The official added that communication channels between the two countries remain open, and talks for long-term peace and border management are ongoing.

Regional analysts believe this ceasefire will help ease tensions temporarily, but lasting peace will require stronger cooperation between the two countries in areas such as border coordination, security dialogue, and trade.

Summary:

At Pakistan’s request, Afghanistan has agreed to a ceasefire starting at 5:30 PM today. The Islamic Emirate has instructed its forces to respect the truce unless there is any act of aggression
