Rock legend Ozzy Osbourne was reportedly planning to record a new album shortly before his passing on July 22, 2025, after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease.
The Black Sabbath frontman died over the summer, just weeks after reuniting the iconic band for a massive hometown show in Birmingham, UK. Fans around the world celebrated the reunion, unaware that it would be Ozzy’s final live performance.
It’s now been revealed that Ozzy had big plans for what was next. He wanted to head back into the studio for one more album and had already reached out to his longtime guitarist Zakk Wylde to join him.
Zakk told NJ.com:
“He was texting me, saying, ‘Zakk, let’s do another record. I really loved it when you were going through your Allman Brothers, Skynyrd phase when we did No More Tears. It’s heavy but melodic — not crushingly heavy.’”
Zakk replied simply:
“Alright, Oz — whatever you want.”
Unfortunately, the album never came to life. Still, Ozzy managed to complete two major projects before his death — his autobiography, Last Rites, and a BBC documentary about his life and career.
Wylde added:
“We did the show, he finished his book, they wrapped up the documentary, and then he said, ‘Alright, I’m out of here.’ He finished everything he needed to do — and then he was gone.”
Ozzy’s final months were a fitting end to a legendary career — full of music, reflection, and a rock ‘n’ roll spirit that never faded.
