India Pledges Humanitarian Aid to Afghanistan Following Earthquake

Kabul/New Delhi — Afghanistan’s Acting Foreign Minister, Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi, held a telephone conversation today with India’s External Affairs Minister, Dr. S. Jaishankar, focusing on humanitarian assistance and regional cooperation.

During the call, Dr. Jaishankar expressed condolences to the families affected by the recent earthquake in northern Afghanistan. He announced that India would dispatch 15 tons of food supplies to support the victims and further stated that additional medical and food assistance would be sent soon.

Minister Muttaqi thanked the Indian government for its gesture of sympathy and humanitarian support. He assured Dr. Jaishankar that the aid would be delivered promptly and efficiently to those most in need.

Both ministers also discussed strengthening bilateral ties and enhancing regional cooperation for stability and development in South and Central Asia.

This conversation marks another step in the gradual improvement of relations between India and Afghanistan, as both nations explore avenues of mutual assistance and collaboration amid humanitarian challenges.
