Texas National Guard Arrives in Chicago Suburb to Aid ICE Raids

Texas National Guard troops arrived Tuesday at an Army Reserve center in Elwood, Illinois, following President Donald Trump’s authorization to support ICE operations targeting undocumented immigrants with criminal records in the Chicago area.

The deployment, involving up to 400 members, aims to protect federal agents and property amid recent arrests totaling nearly 1,000 since early September. Illinois Governor J.B.

Pritzker and Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson condemned the move as federal overreach, leading to a lawsuit challenging its constitutionality, while Texas Governor Greg Abbott defended it as necessary for enforcing federal law.
